Richard W. Etulain has written sixty-two books and hundreds of essays and reviews, mostly on the history and cultures of the American West and on the life of Abraham Lincoln. After completing a doctorate in 1966, he taught at the college level for nearly forty years in Idaho and New Mexico. He and wife Joyce live in Oregon.
